privacy policy

This policy explains how we handle information when you visit our website or play Farmion, including when you use Epic Games or Steam features.

Who we are

Baer & Hoggo Games develops and publishes Farmion. For questions about information we handle, or to make a privacy request, email baerandhoggo@gmail.com.

Information involved

  • Website visits. Our website is hosted on GitHub Pages. The hosting provider receives ordinary connection data, such as your IP address, browser information, and requested pages. We do not operate an account system or a contact form on this website.
  • Platform and online play. When you use online features, Farmion uses platform identifiers and display names to sign you in, show friends and invitations, connect multiplayer sessions, and identify players in a shared game. Friends' names and presence come from the platform you use. Your display name and gameplay actions can be visible to other players in your session.
  • Saves and profiles. Farmion stores game saves and player progress on your device. If you use a platform's cloud-save feature, that platform may sync copies through your account.
  • Play data, only if you agree. Farmion can send anonymous play data, described in Play data and crash reports. It is off until you say yes.
  • Crash and error reports. Farmion sends a technical report when it crashes or hits an error. See Play data and crash reports.
  • Messages to us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include so we can respond.

Purchases and payment details are handled by the storefront you choose; we do not ask you to enter payment-card details on our website or in Farmion.

Play data and crash reports

The first time you start Farmion, it asks whether you want to share anonymous play data. If you say no, play data is never sent. You can change your answer at any time in the game's Settings.

If you say yes, Farmion sends:

  • when you start and stop playing and for how long, including your local hour and weekday but not your location;
  • your progress: farm level, which tutorial steps and first actions you have completed, what you unlock and how much you harvest, and what you were doing when you stopped;
  • whether you play alone or in co-op, and how many players are in the session;
  • performance: frame rate, graphics settings, screen resolution, graphics card, processor and amount of memory;
  • the game version and edition.

This data is linked to a random ID that Farmion creates for you, not to your Epic or Steam account. It does not contain your account ID, display name, email address, chat messages or saves. We use it to find out where the game is confusing, too slow or not fun, and to fix it. We do not sell it or use it for advertising.

Crash and error reports are always on. When Farmion crashes or logs an error, it sends a technical report: game version, error messages, a stack trace, recent log lines, and hardware and performance figures. We don't add your account ID or name, but in co-op the attached log lines can contain player display names. When the game crashes, you can choose whether to send the crash report. We use these reports only to fix bugs.

Why we use information

We use the information needed to provide the game and its online features, maintain saves and multiplayer sessions, respond to support requests, and protect the service from misuse. Where EU or UK data-protection law applies, our bases are performance of the service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and securing it, fixing crashes and answering messages, your consent for play data, and compliance with legal obligations where required.

Services and other players

Online features rely on Epic Games and Epic Online Services and, in Steam builds, Steam. Those providers handle account, storefront, connection, and cloud-save information under their own privacy policies. Other players in the same multiplayer session receive the information needed to play together, such as display names and shared gameplay state.

Play data is processed for us by PostHog and crash and error reports by Sentry. Both act as our processors and store this data in the EU. Your IP address reaches their servers when data is sent, as with any internet connection. PostHog discards it and does not store it with your play data.

GitHub hosts this website. Some pages include YouTube video players; when a player loads, Google may receive connection information and use cookies or similar technologies under its own policy. Following an external link takes you to that service's website.

Storage and retention

Local saves remain on your device until you remove them. Play data is kept for up to 12 months and crash and error reports for up to 90 days. Cloud copies and account information are managed through the relevant platform. We keep support correspondence for as long as needed to address the request and any applicable legal obligations, then delete it when it is no longer needed. Hosting and platform providers set their own retention periods for data they handle.

Your choices and rights

You can stop sharing play data at any time in Farmion's Settings. Any play data still waiting to be sent is then deleted. To see or delete play data we already hold, email us the analytics ID shown in Settings. You can remove local game saves from your device and manage platform account or cloud-save data through Epic Games or Steam. To ask us about data we control, contact baerandhoggo@gmail.com. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or transfer your personal data, or to object to certain uses. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

International processing and changes

The platform and hosting providers named above may process information in countries outside your own. Their policies explain their practices and applicable transfer protections. We may update this policy as Farmion changes; the date at the top shows the latest version.
